Gaziano & Girling Appreciation & Shoe Appreciation Thread (including reviews, purchases, pictures)

I have a pair of Edward Green Silverstone that are are similar style and they gape too. I think it is due to the swept back shape of the quarters.

Offical TRICKERS shoes and boots thread

Four of my posts have been needlessly attacked, two without any sense, however unkind, whatsoever. This is why I have decided to leave Style Forum. It is sad for me as I’ve enjoyed very many contributions from many of you. This is my last post.

Offical TRICKERS shoes and boots thread

Just noticed that Trickers have a "Wide Fitting Collection" now - its probably been around for a while but its much more than just Grasmere, Malton and Keswick - wished it had been around when I was buying most of my Trickers. But it might help members here to know about it......

Edward Green Appreciation: Pictures, Info, and Where to Buy

I think that unlined shoes are cooler to wear in hot weather which is why I have four such pairs. My EG unlined Harrow ( snuff suede and dk oak) are a pleasure to wear in warm summer weather. I've owned the suede pair for five years and the dk oak pair for two years and they are holding up...

Offical TRICKERS shoes and boots thread

Was looking at my Trickers collection yesterday and the thought came to me that Trickers quality and quality control is so much better than it was fifteen years ago. It's noticeable in the quality of their leathers and more uniform sizing. A short while ago one or two members were bemoaning...

That’s right - and I love the leather soles on Handgrade line. For that reason I will have my Handgrade shoes resoled with leather.

I like Danite soles too as well as Ridgeway. I think it’s “horses for courses”. The reason shoes often return from a factory repair tighter is that they always replace the welts (Edward Green is an exception -only replacing welts when needed). The factory tightens the uppers round the last to...

Did they come back tighter in the width? I once had that problem and had to send them for stretching following a C&J repair.

I’ve read that there are two kinds; one is heavier than the other. The Saphir Dubbin is meant to be a finer product for use on Roughout suede whilst heavier products, yellow in colour, are designed for hiking /work boots.

Very wise imo. Edward Green shop also has the reputation of advising too tight a fit. I’m fortunate to have a sensible member of staff who agrees with my opinion on my size. For C&J I go up half a size because the E width is too narrow for me. Going up half a size gives me a good fit.
