    American Express Appreciation Thread

Amex all the way. You can open a dispute online and it resolves itself in a few weeks without any other interaction. With Citi they require lots of documentation that I don't have time to fuss with. I did have a problem with Amex once and that was at a restaurant where I think they ran my bill...

    J Crew Spring/Summer 2011 Discussion

Looking for an every day, light, casual jacket. Was thinking about the Trapper http://www.jcrew.com/mens_category/o...7001/37001.jsp or the Cadet http://www.jcrew.com/mens_category/o...2993/22993.jsp Would you guys recommend either? which one? I'm also keeping my eyes peeled on eBay for...

White vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray wherever you need to. Then let it air dry outside.

Chicago, Washington DC, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Sacramento, and probably a few others make no sense being on that list.

Things That Are Bothering You, Got You All Hibbeldy-Jibbeldy, or just downright pissed, RIGHT NOW!

Went to put on a tie, only to discover moths had been enjoying it first.

    McMansion or not?

I think color affects the mood in a surrounding more than anything. McMansions are often painted with a flat, neutral color paint like beige (scuze me: cafe cream mocha espresso) walls, beige carpet and a white ceiling. The white ceiling makes the eye stop at the top of the walls and you...

    McMansion or not?

Finally a sane post. Well done. Does the cement board in your neighborhood have a smooth or faux "rough sawn colonial" woodgrain surface? As an interesting side note, while my house was under construction, some kids accidentally lit my backyard on fire on the 4th of July while I wasn't there. FD...

    McMansion or not?

I can find an excellent cabinet maker who is within a stones throw of my location, but he doesnt work for the same price that a typical framer works for. Materials on the other hand, it depends. I've found a great deal of nice materials online, but you have to know what you are looking for and...

    McMansion or not?

Quality issues aside, the biggest problem with McMansions is that they are trying to be something they aren't. They take all these different cool features from other eras and then jumble them together with unskilled workers who can't possibly come close to recreating the original detail. They...

    Thorogood American Heritage Moc Toe

I bought those same boots as a cheaper alternative (~50%) to the Red Wings I was replacing a year or two ago. They held up very well during my construction project. Now I wear them as casual boots sometimes. Would definitely recommend them.

    Rare Things in the Wild

I'd like to see pics of things you don't see much of anymore caught in the wild. Here Ron Paul is wearing a Western string tie and the guy next to him is wearing sequins.

    J Crew Fall/Winter 2010 Discussion

The fact that the merino cardigan costs more should tell just how much of the cardigan is cashmere. If it is anything like the sweater I bought two years ago, it is 8% cashmere. Kinda feels like sticky cotton. It's comfortable enough, though. Haven't worn it a whole lot, so I can't comment on...

    Clarks Desert Boots

Has anyone else dyed their suede Clarks? So far, I've only seen a red pair that someone did. The sand colored ones I have are just too light for my tastes. Thinking about using this http://www.peasandcorn.com/shoeandle...e/dyesprep.asp in grey.

Club Monaco: Adventures in decent clothing and horrible marketing

Club Monaco and J Crew are my two go-to stores. J Crew is more available (nearest CM is over an hour away) and better quality, so I buy almost all my every day clothes from them. I went to the Banana Republic website for the first time in a couple years. The menswear has really taken a hit...
