    Bespoke similar to RLPL

Something of an odd question. My go-to OTR suit is Ralph Lauren Purple Label. It fits me great in a 42S with minimal tailoring needs, and it can be found at steep discount at times. However, their fabric choices are a bit limited, especially in terms of weight. Even with their made to measure...

    Bespoke trousers NYC

There was a thread on this a (long) while back but it didn’t really answer my question. Are there any NYC-based tailors who can do high rise, fishtail-back trousers cut specifically for suspenders? Bespoke or MTM is fine. OTR is fine too, but i can’t seem to find any that aren’t part of a...

    Linen suits and braces/suspenders

On my last couple of MTM suits I'vegone with braces, and find them to be more comfortable than belts. I really like them, despite the odd glance when they are noticed (I work in a hospital so sometimes have to change in and out of a lab coat, etc.) I have an OTR linen suit that I like a lot but...

    Flannel for winter in NYC

So it's cold as hell right now in NYC. Thinking ahead for next winter, I was considering making a flannel suit down the road. I looked at the Minnis website because a) their flannel is supposed to be good quality and b) its ease of access. But they have a pretty wide range of weights: 11 - 12...

Summer Sport Coats - harder to do than winter?

So I'm realizing that I tend to wear sports coats more often than suits, in both professional and personal life. But I'm finding that for some reason it's easier to have good ideas for winter/fall sports coats than it is for summer ones. Maybe because I tend to like my odd jackets dark and my...

    John G. Hardy Linen/Cotton

Does anyone have any experience with these fabrics? I was thinking #9272 for an olive sports coat, but am unsure how heavy this is. I'd rather it be on the light side.

Chukka help - looking for reddish brown color

I recently got a pair of C&J Belgraves in "polo brown calf suede." It's become my favorite pair of shoes. I was looking for a chukka in a similar color of suede - not dark brown, not tan, but a rich reddish brown. But I'm not having any luck. Does anyone have any suggestions? Much appreciated.

Recognize these Crockett & Jones shoes?

I saw these suede shoes on Ebay. They look like a blucher version of chukkas. I like the color - darker and richer than snuff but not as dark as the Connaughts (though that may be due to flash.) Anyone have any knowledge on this model/last? Yes, I asked the seller but he hasn't gotten back to me...

Crockett & Jones Chukka (200 Last)

I was thinking of picking this up. Anyone have any experience with this last? It comes unlined in a D width, so I'm a little unsure how it compares to, say, the 337 last (in which I take a 10E UK.)

Windowpane suit, flat front pants... cuffs or no cuffs?

I'm looking at a charcoal suit with a white windowpane pattern, classic appearance. The trousers are flat front. I know "Da Rules" say that means no cuff. But I was under the impression that windowpanes and pinstripes call for cuffs. Am I wrong? If not, what should I do, cuffs or no...

    Windowpane: Sports Coat or Suit?

OK I get that pinstripes are only for suits, not sport coats. But windowpane patterns: I've seen them for both. What's the deal? Are some windowpanes better for SC and others better for suits? I'm asking because for my second MTM garment I want a windowpane, but I have more suits than sports...

    Top 5 Pocket Squares

I'm trying to get a handle on pocket squares but I'm finding it hard to figure out what goes with what. I'm hoping this thread will give me some building blocks to mess around with. So... What are the top five most versatile pocket squares? I know the top slot will go to a simple white...

    Help picking brown oxfords

Looking for some input on my next pair of shoes. I'm looking to pick up a pair of brown oxfords to be worn with suits. Right now I have a black cap toe, dark brown suede Connaught (C&J), and Ralph Lauren Darlton brown cordovan wingtips. My suits are a range of grey (charcoal, charcoal with...

    C&J lasts: 236 and 337

I know, I know, another C&J sizing thread... But I searched but couldn't really find an answer to this specific question. The C&J 236 last (Connaught) fits me pretty well in a size 9 UK. Would I get a comparable size in the 337 (Audleys)? I know the 337 is a bit narrower. Many thanks.
