Edward Green Appreciation: Pictures, Info, and Where to Buy

I know you mention both tightness issues in the forefoot and looseness issues around heel and ankle. Are these issues consistent across both feet or different from foot to foot? If the latter, you might want to consider split sizing. I know for me, most of my sizing trouble stems from having...

Out of curiosity, what is even involved in top drawer? EG's materials, finishing, and craftsmanship already seems top notch and unimpeachable for a RTW shoe, I'm not sure what benefits or upgrades they can offer as a Top Drawer upgrade. If it is stuff like a fiddleback sole, that wouldn't have...

Yeah, I saw those a couple months ago, they are gorgeous. If they were in my size I would have snapped them up!

Weight makes sense as another factor but I doubt it makes a huge difference within a relatively healthy, normal weight range. I'm 6'0", 200lbs and I have never had issues with premature wear of my shoes, even less sturdily made Blake stitched shoes and I have never had a large shoe wardrobe...

I think there are a ton of factors that can affect wear. Te0o is in London, UK so I assume he likely puts more mileage on his shoes than those of US in North America or in less urban areas where we drive everywhere and our shoes only see a short daily walk outside from the parking lot to the...

Too bad that the recraft bill was so steep. Nevertheless, the shoes look gorgeous and have developed a really nice patina over time and the leather looks really supple and well-broken in. These are definitely shoes that get better with age.

Sadly, our current culture of instant gratification and disposability is also affecting the high-end shoemakers. The number of cemented shoes in Lobb's lineup makes one want to weep.

You could try some tongue pads? They will push your feet back into the heel cup. In the future, John Lobb does offer a EE, wide width, version of most of their shoes. You might want to try those to get the right width without adding unnecessary length.

Snuff is the classic English suede country shoe colour for a reason, but I err towards a smaller shoe collection of timeless, versatile pieces.

Personally, I'm not a fan. The weird, non-traditional broguing ruins them for me. Also, not a fan of how Lobb photographs their newer shoe models. I don't know if it is the lighting, polishing , or retouching of some kind, but they look oddly fake and plasticky. (the defective pair of new...

Very cool! I would be very curious to know if there are any loafer models in that catalogue other than the Zilka, Ashley, Lopez, and Campus seen in the limited scans available online. My dream shoes would probably be the Zilka, although I don't think they are available MTO anymore. It is...

    John Lobb Appreciation Thread

I found some scans from Lobb's 1999 catalogue online and they have got to be the most beautiful English ready-to-wear shoes I have ever seen: The old-fashioned, bespoke style bevelled waist on the Philip I is so much more impressive to me than any modern waist treatments and the lasts/patterns...

Does anyone know if Edward Green's Dark Oak is aniline or crust leather?

The fact that they are selling a shoe that is meant to mimic the appearance of a galosh/overshoe says it all. Personally, I found the couple of pairs of old stock Lopez loafers that I got on sale much better than the pair of new season ones I tried buying. The new season ones were caked with...

    John Lobb Appreciation Thread

Hi all, I just received a beautiful pair of Lopez loafers in dark brown suede. However, I noticed a strange "2" written on the tongue under the model information: I was worried this meant I was accidentally sold a pair of factory seconds so I reached out to store and Lobb told them that they...

Hopefully, this is a clearer image: The round little shapes are frayed/torn leather at the end of each stitch. They weren't there this morning when I put the shoes on and only seem to be happening at the front of the toe. They aren't there on the brown pair I got on the same sale. The photo...

Well, my luck sucks! I wore my Lopez loafers for the first time today (just a short break in wear for an hour and a walk to the mailbox) and when I took them off to put them away, I was horrified to discover that the leather is tearing away at the apron seam: Strangest thing ever! Since I got...

    John Lobb Appreciation Thread

My problem is my feet are narrow and boney and my left is a full half size larger. Generally speaking, I tend to have a lot of looseness at both the instep and heel. Typically when I buy to fit my left, it is obnoxious large for my right. I end up needing an insole and/or tongue pad and still...

I can't believe I am going to say this, but I am a Lopez convert. I was able to find them on a really good sale and they fit my feet extremely well. This is so strange because I have narrow feet and often find shoes fit me too big. I understand the Lopez are supposed to be very generous...
