    From what I can gather, it's sort of like trying to buy a Rolex these days. Get on a list with a retailer, and wait a long time. Spend history can (but not always?) influence the length of the wait. -A guy with no rare shell and no Rolex, but on "the list" for the latter

    I appreciate the thoughts. I haven't tried a tongue pad in my tassels, but I have in some Copley 9.5s, which seem bigger. I think I'll double check the return policy and try a 9.5C.

    Where did you get these good looking wings? They look similar to the ones offered by Brogue, except yours don't appear to be on the Plaza. (Maybe? I'm not the best at last ID) The Brogue pair didn't work for my feet, so I'm still on the lookout for a color 8 shortwing on a different last.

    Quick question - today I'm wearing my new pair of B+M scotch grain longwings. Great looking shoes, but the left one has a feeling of something poking up from the footbed, making it fairly uncomfortable. It's almost like the ridge in the footbed that should go in front of the ball of the foot...

    I'm late to the game here, but thought I'd add that Harrison Limited in Birmingham is an Alden stockist and could probably order you a few sizes to try. Even if you don't get any shoes, it's a fantastic men's shop and worth the trip just to browse if nothing else.

    These came in the mail a couple of weeks ago, and today is the perfect rainy day to give them a try. Can't believe after all this time they're my first pair of longwings....for sure won't be my last!
