Thank you so much for the answer! I find it odd that such a destructive process would be traditional. I suppose the thought is the laces will conceal the holes, especially when laced straight bar?- bbqthis

Yes, I was surprised too. Although I suppose that is actually favorable since I still intend on having toe plates put on them. I imagine having the rows of nails in this case would complicate things more. Oh well, I’ll see what they say in the morning.- bbqthis

At the risk of being dog piled on (even rightly so!), I took receipt of my first pair of Cleverely's today. Happy with the fit. A few finishing blemishes that aren't great, but won't be there in a few months. Biggest issue was the lack of the requested toe taps...so these will probably be going...- bbqthis
