Australian Members - Part II - if you read the first post, you'll get what this is all about.

Not sure about shirts in Melbourne. But if you're ever in Sydney try Charles Nakhle. I used to order my shirts there when on a visit from Melbourne. (Now in Germany the last couple of years, so fewer trips to Sydney unfortunately).

    Formula 1 - F1 - Current Season Discussion

Smart driving by Rosberg and impressive to be able to hold ones nerve like that. Obviously he would have liked another win to clinch the championship earlier. Very suspenseful finish.

I just read solo faces a couple of weeks ago. Have you read any more James Salter? I thought "a sport and a pastime" was great and I plan on reading more of his books soon.

The belt with the waistcoat is just ridiculous, completely incompetent.

Did these shoes have topy or original leather sole? Will eventually need to get C&Js, carmina's etc resoled. Only had the full resole done on Loakes at McCloud's and I am wondering about options. Thanks.

2014-2015 OFFICIAL FOOTY THREAD (+ Brazil 2014) - Football, Soccer, Calcio, Voetball, Fútbol, Futebo

Good match, Argentina played well and it could have gone either way, feel sorry for their fans. People are overly critical of Messi. Glad to see Klose win the world cup after the 2002 loss. Great team effort all around. Happy to see Germany Weltmeister after so many semi-final appearances in...

Need help with performing attire (pianist)

All black is quite common for musicians, but anathema to styleforum. I agree it looks awful in general, but may be a safe option for classical music exactly because it is quite common. I would try navy wool trousers and a plain white shirt instead. Make sure the shirt is well fitted, nice strong...

I'll have to find a copy somewhere. Somewhat interested as to what topics are covered. I would say anything occurring earlier than big bang nucleosynthesis (t ~ 1 sec) is speculative - we may suspect some process has taken place e.g. baryogenesis (creation of the matter-antimatter asymmetry) or...

Actually I forgot one. 7. The luck of Barry Lyndon - William Makepeace Thackeray. The story of Barry Lyndon, as told by Barry Lyndon himself. The fatal events as a young man in Ireland which propel him into the army and onto the continent during the seven years war. Life as an adventurer on the...

    4. How Proust can change your life - Alain de Botton. Amusing look at Proust's life and major work. What was Proust like and how was his character reflected in his work? What can we learn about the world, friendship, memory and love from his great novel? I would recommend this to all lovers of...

I haven't read that, though I am still working on some early universe cosmology together with particle physics. I will start updating this thread with the books I've read so far this year. 1. Of Human Bondage - W. Somerset Maugham. Follows the maturation of Philip Carey. From childhood through...

    Formalwear Question - Waistcoat

Something as in that picture would be in good taste. Just make sure it's black, low cut, and sits low enough for there to be no shirt showing between vest and trousers. No belt of course, braces will make sure the trousers stay positioned properly (but you knew all that already). Enjoy the party.

    26. The Strangest Man: The Hidden Life of Paul Dirac, Quantum Genius - Graham Farmelo. Biography of Paul Dirac, an early pioneer of quantum mechanics. He came up with the equation which describes the relativistic electron, now known as the Dirac equation, which also predicted the antielectron...

    25. Fiesta: The Sun Also Rises - Ernest Hemingway. A group of wealthy (mostly) Americans travel down from Paris to Pamplona for some fishing and to watch the bull fights. All the men are in love with Brett ("curves like the hull of a racing yacht"). The narrator, Jake, has lost his prospects...

    23. Nana - Emile Zola. This is a social satire of France under Napoleon III. It charts the life of Nana, the capricious courtesan incarnate, from debut in the theatre, to a life of wealth backed by the consumption of myriad fortunes. Zola's naturalism allowed him to document various...

Head of the Gods #Menswear. Note bear fur coat, solid stick in ash (no umbrella), tie clip, and entourage of fan carrying chorus girls. One of course needs a certain stature to pull it all off.
