NavyStyles, I'm not a great one for casting, but something about Julianne Moore hits me as too "white;" too British or Australian looking, but I could be wrong. But I love the photo you posted, especially where it's cropped. Nice emphasis.

I agree, CTGuy, she's gorgeous, in a natural way. I still think Sophie Marceau is a really hot choice, and a decent actress, though maybe she looks too dark for the part. I know people say the book was "light fare," but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Lets your mind run wild with theory and speculation. Hope you enjoy finishing it, NavyStyles. My wife has told me to read The Mists of Avalon, which I never did. She said it delves quite deeply into the feminine goddess topic via the King Arthur legend. Hmmm...feminine goddess thing. I wonder if she's getting at something.

I didn't really enjoy the Da Vinci code. I felt it was more fit to be a screenplay than a piece of literature. It's simply not the kind of book that I'm interesting in reading.

I think you're right, Brian SD; I think it was written trying to be made into a movie. As for the subject matter...well, that's why we're all different, isn't it? What's the stuff that piques your interest?

Generally I go for humor, and stimulating dialogue - my favorite author is Douglas Coupland. I love it when the character personalities are so developed that they feel like real people. It's something that only amazing authors can do.

Quill, Good point about Moore's pale skin. That wouldn't really fit Sophie's French heritage. And, I thought the picture was a nice one -- glad you enjoyed. Just paying tribute to the divine feminine. I googled Marceau and think she'd fit the role quite nicely (maybe you do have something going for casting).

Anybody read The DaVinci Code ? (yes, I'm usually way behind the trends on most things) While it may not qualify as great literature, I'm finding it kind of interesting. Not sure how much to believe or not believe, but it sounds fascinating (kind of like the Celestine Prophecy attraction for some). Don't give away what happens; I haven't finished it yet. But my real question is: is this definitely going to become a movie? (seems like it). Who would play Langdon? Sophie? (Sophie Marceau would be my choice; what a BABE ) Anybody like the book? Hate it? (Try to tell me without revealing the end, please. Â

 )

Quill, Â Â I, too, am quite late in reading The Da Vinci Code. Â I have wanted to read it since Christmas and finally picked it up two days ago and was about to type a post in the same manner you did. Â I'm a little over one-third of the way through the story right now, and it's great. Â I love that I'm learning a lot of things from it, as well. Â Even phi, which was a subtopic of a past post, gets mentioned. Â I had heard that this was mentioned in the book and was very excited when I got to that part. Â Making me think I should go into cryptology. Â Â As far as the movie goes, my first thought was Harrison Ford. Â However, Jim Caviezel (thanks to Tokyo Slim) would probably fit the age a little better. Â And I immediately imagined Julianne Moore as Sophie when Brown described her auburn hair. Â What do you think?

Julianne Moore is a good fit but I'm not sure about Jim Caviezel. I pictured Professor Langdon as a scholarly yet rugged. I little Russell Crowe and a little Pierce Brosnan. This is a stretch but maybe Hugh Jackman, Liam Neeson or Harrison Ford.

is buried in the mountains somewhere in southern France. Â See the book "HOly Blood/Holy Grail" (forgot the authors' names) plus other related books. Â Such poor research. edit: oops, the "grail" being the Magdelene's womb.
