    I have a bespoke one from Steed based on one he (Edwin) designed for Voxsartoria which was itself based on a vintage double breasted Anderson & Shepherd white tie waistcoat done for Fred Astaire.     They are practically mandatory on highly starched Marcella shirts used for white tie to avoid crackling of the starched fronts. I had them put on my detachable collar formal shirt. I haven’t seen them on softer fronted shirts, but it still makes some sense there as well.

    Not entirely. Just a thought. Red are recommended as an alternative in ‘Dressing the Man’ I believe. But it might be a bridge too far in this case. Plus, She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed has exercised veto power over the insignia slippers. I’ll likely go with plain black.
