Thanks! So the talon era is the golden age of Filson. I bought my current OG small field bag without research and was a bit disappointed with the leather. It's a 07-2017 bag. I love the bags where the leather changed to a honey color. Now to find a tan small field bag from the good years.- Rudy83

If it gets repaired properly, I'd send it in. From new the stitching was a machine stitch with untied ends. If this third party were to do it properly, and would tie the ends off, of send it in in a heartbeat. I guess I'll just send it in, the DIY route can always be taken if it comes back and...- Rudy83

Well, after about 3,5 months of carry, and laying around due to quarantine, the stitching on the leather holding the ring that the strap hooks onto is unraveling on both sides of the bag. Just to add onto this comment, I tried the strap without the pad, and that solves the 'strap being just a bit short' issue. A short shopping trip on Etsy rewarded me with a dark brown veg tanned unpadded pad. The price was OK for a test to see if I like it. If not, I have more bags it can fit...- Rudy83

I'm back with some pictures: Amazing how reddish brown the leather looks in photos. In real life I say it's very dark brown. As I said, all leather was stiff when I got it, but is breaking in nicely. Mostly the strap from passing through the buckle. And this is all stuff currently...- Rudy83
