Just in from Broadland Slippers. They’re in need of a high/mirror shine. Also, a new faille paddle/batwing bow tie and silk pocket square from Carrot and Gibbs.

I'm considering having an odd dinner jacket made in the burgundy Filarte fabric. I know, I know. Filarte, blah, blah. Shawl with grosgrain lapels and trimmings. Lightly padded to as per fall 2023 tux drop to give it some structure. Maybe a slightly extended shoulder. Double vents cuz I wanna be...

Agree on the above assessments of the Clissold vs Minnis. Clissold isn't a bad pick up, just be mindful of how it's different from the Minnis as noted above. In fact, I'm wearing the Clissold tomorrow for a presentation. Slight preference goes to the Minnis, though.

I dunno, I dunno, mane. The silhouette doesn’t seem to be executed that well from the pics. Slightly extended shoulders with minimal padding to add some structure to even out the roundness of the shoulder line, to make a better inverted triangle silhouette for the 6 x 1 would look better IMO...

    Double Breasted Style.

Coming to realize a double breasted sportcoat/suit looks better with lightly padded shoulders. Saying this after rocking with a spalla camicia DB sport coat for a few years.

    Double Breasted Style.

Agreed. I like the nod, but the slight structure improves on the silhouette.

The State of Black Tie: Your Observations

February was the month I wore black tie twice and it was a joy to indulge in this sartorial expression. The first occurrence was at my wife’s murder mystery party, where the theme was old Hollywood glamour. Since the probability was incredibly high that I’d be the only one there wearing a...

Ah! I see. Details on the fabric? I've been searching for the right glen check, one that has a decent weight/drape, but doesn't have such a woolen hand.

Jacket looks great and I wouldn't take it in. I imagine the whole outfit will be improved with Mod 3 trousers provided they are let out some from the thigh, knee, and calf to achieve a cleaner trouser line/drape in better harmony with the pictured sportcoat.

Many thanks, good sir! I was actually reflecting on this a bit over the weekend, as I took the Spier tux for a spin at a costume party. I sat, danced, crossed my legs, and moved with much ease, all with the drape of the pants intact. I'd consider getting another pair of formal trousers via...
