Where to buy Japanese influenced clothing in Japan

I'm looking for some shopping reccomendations in Japan (Tokyo, Osaka and a few other cities). There is a lot on the forum (and the wider internet) about where to shop for the the denim brands, the repro brands and classical menswear. That all appeals but I would love to get some more...

    Timeless/old money Three Piece suit

I think his suit actually had a check fabric rather than being completely plain, but yes. It seems to me a 2 or 2/3 single breasted suit like that, in a moderage cut (I can't think of another way to phrase it) is most likely to "fit in" on most occasions for longest. Waistlines go up and down...

    Timeless/old money Three Piece suit

To add to this. There is no real old money look. The individuals you have highlighted have money and a certain taste, which I think is the point you are making but a lot of people miss. There is still some social capital/codes around clothing passed down in traditional wealthy families and...

    Timeless/old money Three Piece suit

If you want a "timeless" suit get a two piece, single breasted, notch lapel in navy or charcoal wool in as neutral a cut as possible (i.e. not slim, not too wide or drapey). Ideally with flat, flapped, pockets although I doubt that many people will notice the jetted slanted/hacking pockets on...

The Gentleman's Directory - a curated list of high-quality brands

This is fascinating, is there any way to link to this outside of Styleforum - as a Google Sheet or similar? It's a bit tricky navigating it embeded in a post.

    London, Wedding Dress

So I was wondering this myself recently, not having bought a suit in ~10 years and finding I urgently needed one as a wedding guest. The answer is still not as many options as you would hope. Or at least not as many good ones. There are a few "modern" MTM options from the OK looking Custom...

    London, Wedding Dress

Under £600 your best bet probably is Suit Supply, in the London shops they generally know what they are about and are helpful if a little pushy. They will often want to alter a suit to be too slim but you can dissuade them. The other option might be Natalino, smaller range of styles and sizes...

Ask A Question, Get An Answer... - Post All Quick Questions Here (Classic menswear)

Another good suggestion, they were on my list but it looks like, despite plans, they still don't have a physical shop and online in the timeline makes me nervous - I am between sizes/an awkward fit with sloped shoulders. Still, I will take a look at their shipping times!

Yeah at the moment my plan at the moment is basically to go to saville row and get the RTW suit which seems least like a rip off. I don't love it but the brick and mortar options for a good RTW suit don't seem great. It's cheap suits, overpriced designer suits or online.

I am not sure where I can actually get that in London, and I need to try and buy this week which means in person. I know Trunk used to stock them but it seems like not any more. I will have a look around and see if I can find any other stockists, thanks!

Bedale and Beufort are the two classics, both are waterproof enough for walking around town on a rainy day (but not as waterproof as a modern technical fabric). Bedale is shorter so it probably looks a bit smarter, beufort is longer so it will cover a suit/jacket and keep more of you dry. Both...

Ask A Question, Get An Answer... - Post All Quick Questions Here (Classic menswear)

You could get a Barbour? With a zip in lining they can tackle the coldest weather you will get in Brighton and there is a barbour shop in Brighton. I like dark brown pebble grain boots with a dainite sole in the winter. I wouldn't wear them with a suit (except perhaps a casual tweed one) but...

Best RTW suit options in London for £800-£1.5k. Just found out the casual wedding I am going to next Friday is not that casual and I will be sitting on a table with some business contacts. Haven't bought a suit for ~10 years and none of them work any more. Not Suit Supply, done with slim fit...

What's the next step up from Suit Supply MTM in London?

Hey Ilias, Work got busy and I don't need the suit until September so I've done exactly nothing since this post. I've been thinking about Mason and Sons MTM, Cad & Dandy, and Timothy Everest MTM (I live and work near the shop and have a couple of OTR items from there I like). Sorry not to...

What's the next step up from Suit Supply MTM in London?

I am in London, so I will check them out. I don't mind spending more than Suit Supply if it's going to be worth it. Thanks TomTom.

What's the next step up from Suit Supply MTM in London?

Thanks, st1X. I did push them to add a bit more volume to the trousers and increase the rise on the trousers but it still felt like I was swimming against the tide a bit. If I used them again I would have to go in with a really clear list to get what I want, but I am just curious with all of...

What's the next step up from Suit Supply MTM in London?

After not buying a suit for years I had a double-breasted dinner jacket made for me by Suit Supply. It's fine, but it's not great. They are still pushing quite a slim-cut and high-button stance that I think is going to look pretty dated soon. Some elements of the fit just could be a bit better...
