Take that Alabama trash back to Georgia pendejo, we're talking home theaters. 2 channel is for people that spend thousands of dollars on usb and ethernet cables.

Speaking of, I have a second SVS subwoofer getting delivered tomorrow. My system is fixin2b 7.2.

The sealed 12 incher is so much smaller than the ported 10 incher, and weighs probably 30 lbs lighter.

To answer the question: no.

HOWEVER! I would like to get something simple for my TV. I have no idea what to look for/evaluate. Guide me oh, wise ones! (And bear).

How much do you want to spend? Audoholics has a 5.1 recommendation for $750, and a good website for reviews. Avoid soundbars.

The new Monoprice THX certified speakers are probably really damn good for the price.

Now that I have the dual subs setup, I don't know how the hell I was ever happy before this. It's sounds so damn good.

well.... maybe not 750. I was thinking of having just an external set of speakers but I don't know (was considering a soundbar.....)

Buy a receiver and 2 bookshelf speakers. That will sound better than a soundbar, and you can add additional speakers down the road.

Nope. I got tired of the money and hassle. Also got tired of the inputs on my receivers going out every 2 to 3 years, so gave up. Had my Polk tower speakers since the 90s, somehow lost the surround ones. Never bothered to replace them. Sub died sometime in the early 2000s, never bothered to replace that.

Now I power my Polks with a cheap Chinese 2x80W amp. The remote is garbage but I have Harmony codes so no biggie.

Use my XboneX with a RasbPi running OpenELEC (LibreELEC was too buggy for me) plugged into its HDMI input to access all my media on my NAS. Works great for me. I like running the Pi through the Xbone instead of plugging directly into the TV b/c it allows me to use my gaming headset if I want while I'm watching movies, listening to music, etc.

I finally have a reason to buy a new receiver. My old appletv finally crapped out so I went and bought a new one (separate rant but why did those things almost double in price?). Low and behold, no digital audio out. Only hdmi. My receiver is so old it only does pass through. Time for a new one.
Thinking Yamaha. I dunno.

Yamaha is good. I have an emotiva prepro and seperate amp, which is probably way "too" much for you to handel.

Here is a list of entry level receivers from cnet, for plebs.

Geez. My outdated receiver was an Onkyo. It replaced a Denon. I’m not exactly new to this. Most of my viewing these days is with headphones as I cant justify/afford soundproofing.
