All the time, I find "dumb" a massive turn-off.

Sadly, in my youth apparently the same was true of "sane".

I think you should seek the smartest partner who will condescend to spend time with you.

If you often find that you're the smartest person in the room, chances are good that
1) you're mistaken. Or,

Date a woman that was one step ahead of me mentally? No, never, and I have met damn few that even came close to that. I suppose if I had associated with women who were highly competent in areas of intellectual endeavor where I did not excel, e.g. mathematics, physics, astronomy and whatnot, my answer might have been different.
