Opinions on Lindberg eyeglasses

I was shown Lindberg rimless frames in titanium the other day, the construction details blew me away, perhaps I don't look at enough frames but I was very impressed. Anyone have any experience or opinions?

not sure, but I was recently doing an higher-end eyeglass search and looked at Oliver Peoples, Paul Smith, Alan Milki (and offshoots), Cartier, Booth, and about 10 other brands, and ended up going with Kio Yamatos, which are comfortable, light, and stylish IMO.

Lindberg have (at least) two rimless ranges: Air Titanium and Spirit Titanium.  I've been wearing a pair of Spirit Titanium frames for maybe half a year or so, and Rim Titanium (i.e. full-rimmed) frames for several years before that.

I think they're great - very light and comfortable to wear, and I like the minimalistic look.  Pretty expensive though - add on high quality lenses and you're talking 500 GBP for a pair - but they're worth it to me.

The only caveat I'd add is that I think the titanium frame isn't as strong as their flexibility may suggest.  In particular, I've managed to break two pairs of Rim Titaniums at the bridge.  This wasn't down to me testing the flexibility of the frame either - all I did was wipe the lenses on a regular basis and one day they just broke in half while I was wiping them.

As such, I think rimless is definitely the way to go as even if the bridge breaks, it's easily replaced and repaired.

TKDKid, what kind of repair bill did you incur? The salesperson told me that repair costs are minimal 10% or less of the frame cost. Thanks again.

in terms of rimless glasses, it's very hard to top Lindberg's rimless.. the Kawasaki's are nice as well, and the style is somewhat similar to the Lindberg's.. understand that both are titanium frames, and thus, they cannot be soldered.. instead, if a piece should break you're looking at needing to purchase a new piece.. all rimless frames are, by definition, modular, however you're probably looking at about $100 for a new bridge piece.. they do have a very nice warranty period, however, as they're located in Denmark there are occasionally some shipping issues resulting in it taking about one to two weeks (speaking in a best case scenario) to get replacement parts.. personally, i've never broken my Air Titanium frames.. the clips are notorious for breaking, but their style cannot be beat..

Unfortunately I couldn't get my two pairs of Rim Titaniums repaired (can't remember why, probably issues with the fact that they were full-rimmed). Â At least I salvaged the lenses so the next pairs were only half price. Â

Haven't broken my rimless pair yet (touch wood), but I've been assured that it's a cheap and easy repair. I'll try to post some pics later on.

sorry to resurrect an old thread. i love this line of eyewear. they are definitely expensive, where is the best price i can find the spirit line?

Would anyone recommend not getting them online? I did try on a pair in store and thought that they were very nice. Would I be able to just buy the frames online and have the store put prescription lenses in for me? Any thoughts?

I have a pair of Lindberg, but they are not rimless. The rim goes around and they have coiled spring hinges.

I can not see my self ever buying another brand of glasses. I love these. They are super light weight and ultra durable. I never keep them in a case and often fall asleep with them on my face.

Can not recommend them enough.

I have heard that the rimless are a bit less durable because of the pressure that you put on the lens,

but I love mine.

I have done just this. Picked up a pair in Hong Kong and a pair from Canada (via EBay). Should have them Tuesday and will post pics.
For me it was all about the weight of the frames - approximately 6 grams.
A word of warning though - the lenses on mine required some specialised fitting, (drilling through the lenses), so best ensure whichever Optical store that you use works with a reputable Lab.

Are Lindberg frames generally cheaper in HK? Last time I checked (a couple of years ago) the price seemed comparable with that in the UK.


If you know somewhere reasonably priced in HK would you mind posting?

Unfortunately not. I paid 'rack rate' in HK ( approx $USD 550).
EBay -I found similar frames from Canada for about $350.
