I'm getting married next year and am interested in getting a MTM suit/tux for the wedding. I have a n awkward build (heavier, large chest), so I think MTM is most likely the way to go...my budget of around $1,000 and am looking to prioritize a couple of things to figure out where to go have my suit/tux made and have it fit all within my budget...How would you rank the importance of the following:

A. Full canvas vs half canvas construction

B. Having your appointment/measured by an actual reputable/renowned tailor as opposed to a salesman/store attendant

C. Choosing a high quality, luxurious fabric (S130-S150 from a name brand mill) vs. the entry level S110- S120 fabrics offered

A. Full

C. Forget the numbers, they are mostly marketing hype. A higher number does not mean higher quality,

If it were me (which it isn't) I wouldn't place much importance on half v. full canvas. If I had to choose I'd go full, but if I liked everything else half canvas wouldn't be a deal breaker. I think being able to talk to the tailor and have him/her give recommendations on things he's worked with before is nice, but getting fitted by a really good sales rep can be nice too. I say that thinking of Aaron at @Kent Wang . If you can make it to New York for an appointment with him I think you'd have a great experience, like I did. And their suits fall well within your budget.

As for the fabric, the Super designations are not what I would call marketing hype. They are real measures of a certain characteristic of a cloth. If I recall correctly, they designate how many fibers it takes to make a strand of a certain length. Or maybe something like that, I could be wrong on the specifics. But the above reply is correct is saying that they don't necessarily correspond to "quality," however you might measure that.

Thanks for the input...I apologize, Iphrased my initial question poorly. I have 2 different options in my price point that i'd trying to decide between:

a) Suitsupply MTM - which is full canvased and a S150 VBC fabric, but I will most likely be measured by a sales clerk as opposed to a tailor

b) A traveling Savile Row tailor on a trip to NYC - which (at my price limitations) would mean half canvased, most likely their entry level fabric level (which I'm sure is still good), but I would have the benefit of being measured by an actual tailor and having suit made in Central Europe and finished in-house in London by the person who measured me

Thanks @Caustic Man ! Unfortuantely, I am out of the size range of Kent Wang MTM (that was my first choice!) and am deciding between Suitsupply MTM and Steed MTM...I understand they are two totally different styles, I typically like soft shoulders, but havent had the ability to try on a A&S-style drape cut, so I dont know if it will flatter my frame or accentuate some insecurities

I did say mostly marketing hype, in the sense that salespeople often use them to up-sale.

That's fair, but I still think it's inaccurate. Just because the Super designation is USED for marketing doesn't mean the designation itself isn't based in an entirely measurable and real phenomenon. But your overall message, to not associate the Super designation with "quality" is a good one.

That would surprise me if the Steed MTM is half canvased for £1050 (price on their website). You might want to double check. Some MTM outfits will offer a full canvas for a markup of $50-$100, so that might be an option for Steed.
