I like to shave my head on occasion. I also like to grow a beard on occasion.

My new gig starts next week at the equivalent of the DA's office up north.

Kosher for a 26-year-old? Or should I ditch the fuzz, at the very least?

I'd be wearing formal attire, of course...

I think I'd see about changing your eyes: they look spooky all big, dark, and square like that.

...

and, yes - I would shave. You're fighting for justice, not a latte.

(edit, curse you and your ninja edit)

Up. And conservative --> Serpico was what I was thinking, too.

I recall someone saying here something to equivalent to: you can have a beard in a conservative office, you just can't grow a beard. Scruffy facial hair doesn't seem to jive well with a DA's office.

I work in a government office and that seems to be the trend around here. There are two guys who added full beard and the two guys who added a mustache and all did so over Christmas when they were either off for a full couple of weeks (or other extended vacations) and could come back without it looking scruffy (or even if they were in the office while growing it out, there was probably only 10% of the staff around).

The only other guy in our office with a full beard had it when he was being interviewed and has had it since day 1.

Alrighty then. I'll grow it out until Sunday evening and see how it looks. If it's full enough to look like a man's beard, I'll keep it. If it's still in the scruff stage, off it goes!

It's actually much fuller right now than my Mac's camera was able to capture.

I don't think you want to look that intimidating as a DA...

The beard is meant to temper my extraordinarily generous eyes. Believe me, the "badass" look is just that. What's intimidating, anyway? The beard and short hair, or the tattoos and the glasses?

I'll agree with others: either grow a beard or go clean-shaven. The four-day-growth look isn't professional in any capacity. A beard should be fine, though.
