Watched the first two episodes of Fallout last night. Entertaining so far but as usual I doubt I'll commit to any subsequent season.
Finished it last night, and I am pretty happy. The world building possibility is high, and reminded me a lot of exploring in the game. Perhaps my gf was right that it's easier to relate for fans of the game.

I don't think a S2 is coming even though Hiroyuki Sanada signed on for a potential S2. It'll end up like GoT last season where it just terrible writing.

We watched Knuckles over the weekend. It was good, not great. The fourth episode, though, was fully nuts. I would not be at all surprised to find out the writers were so stoned they needed hospitalization.

I made it through book 1 and half way through the second. Agreed that the show did a great job at creating suspense and you lose that in the book (audio for me as well). For it I think it was because I've already watched the series. The second half of Book 1 is very good and I didn't have the benefit of knowing the story ahead of time. I enjoyed it. Wasn't predictable and kept my interest. I'm sure season 2 will be the second half of Book 1. You could even get a third season out of Book 1.

Book 2 kind of lost me. It details the before-time, how the Silo's were built and why. It's a compelling story but I really wanted to continue learning about the characters from the series/Book 1. Half way through and it was still ancient history of the Silo and I eventually lost interest. I'd have preferred a continuation of Book 1 with flashbacks to tell the origin story. In the author's defense, that may be the 3rd book but I never got that far.

Knowing Julia's fate still has me eager for a season 2. Loved her character and in typical SF theme, I loved the way the costume department dressed her before she wore the uniform. Cool aged, worn sweaters and perfectly cuffed fatigue-like trousers with a great fit. They nailed it IMO! Rebecca Ferguson eve looked good in an industrial jumpsuit.

Wife and I both sort of independently decided that we don't want to keep listening to the audiobook.

I'd rather see where the show takes me, so we're not going past the end of S1.

Tough read? I bought it after watching the show, but I haven't started it yet.

It's an interesting read, and the perspective is fascinating for someone that's not Chinese, i.e. the matter of fact belief of some characters that reeducation camps work as well as some other cultural revolution ideas. I don't think the author necessarily believes or endorses any of it, but you can certainly tell he wrote it in a way to avoid censorship or governmental backlash.

You can actually watch the Chinese version television adaptation on YouTube. It's more faithful to the books. It was too overwrought for my tastes so I bailed around episode 7 or 8 when I noticed there were something like 20 or 30 episodes in the season. I don't know if that version covers the first book or all three.

I had been trying to get through the 3 body problem book for a long time.
Same for me...
A bit slow, but the real problem and I'm not shaming because it IS a Chineses book, is the Chinese names.
If I'd spend 5 minutes away from it, and then try to start reading again.....who is this, who was that again?
I was constantly going to wikipedia to review the characters.

I really enjoyed all the Asian women. I didn't really like the way the Blackthorne actor spoke. It was too over the top.
Honestly he sounded like Richard Burton…🤔

I kept meaning to watch that. It fell off my radar. How’d you like the series?

I enjoyed the first season overall.
I'm an easy mark for sci-fi.
B grade....about how I'm feeling about Dark Matter and Outer Range so far as well. It can get slow, but the story keeps me sticking around.
Fall Out and The Last of Us are better.
