Yes, not the most versatile colours. I think that grey goes well with red, burgundy, pink and green tones, mostly.

I think 80% of the time I just do "if it's overcast/cloudy I want to pretend it's black" this would do...

edit though my is decently dark grey

The color of the suede of these oxfords posted on Emiko Matsuda’s Instagram is so nice. It’s light enough to show the brogueing, but has a grey, muted tone to it that makes me think they’d look great with a grey suit, as opposed to the usual snuff or tan suede, which are too strong and bright in my opinion.

A beautiful and unique style on this bespoke pair by Efe Laborde, the Crescent Cap Derby in Cape Buck Suede.
As the person who commissioned and now owns these shoes, I can tell you they might not be as unique as you think. Starting off with one of EG's most elusive designs the "Windsor". (Use google images to look for 'Edward Green Windsor'.) You'll find some images and an extensive entry about the shoes on the 'Uptown Dandy' blog. There was also a long discussion about it here on the forum. I presume 'Uptown Dandy' must have used another nick here, as a user search cannot locate him.

The most unusual thing is the 'Jolly Hockey Sticks' perforation. Initially William and I started off with this idea as the trial shoe shows. But as work progressed, I got cold feet: Hockey isn't my thing at all and my knowledge about it is zilch. The idea someone wanting to involve me in a conversation about hockey, fills me with dread. So, out they went, along with the kilties (too country), to be replaced by a more conventional design.

They might not be 'Windsors', but they are a very fine sample of artisan shoemaking.

A trio of John Lobb St James - cognac austerity brogues, black Derbies and a super hefty pair of combat boots on the right.

I'm a bit of a sucker for picking up bespoke pairs on eBay - the sizing almost never works out, but they usually resell well enough to make it pretty low risk. The austerity brogues just arrived today, and are probably the best fitting pair of shoes I've got from any maker, so I guess I've got a foot twin out there somewhere.
