How do you split a cab?

Depends on the situation -- if you're sharing as a favor (e.g., it's raining and you rightfully caught the cab first, but you're letting him ride along so he doesn't get soaked), then it's reasonable (if a tad mercenary) to expect him to pay the full fare to his destination if he gets out first. On the other hand, if it's an attractive woman, well, use your own judgement.

I live on a zone line, and it costs me two zones (currently $9.80, not including the socially mandatory tip) to go anywhere I would possibly go in the city, whether it is ten blocks or one mile.

zones are pretty stupid. I was once in a cab and the zoning screwed me. I asked the guy to drop me off on the next street over and that turned into a different zone so I had to pay extra just for that crap..

I also think its pretty stupid to have to tip cab drivers. Waiters I can understand but I just dont like tipping cab drivers especially if they ask for a tip. I usually just round up to the next high dollar, not that it is anything special. I would be suprised if anyone did not

For example today: I used my credit card since I had no cash and because of that the driver says I should of tipped him more! The bill was like 510. I payed 6 with my credit card. I hate that ****!

I tip well normally because it's the way it is...
My trip to Europe struck home how stupid our tipping culture in the US is though.
We're subsidizing poor wages.
It's total bullshit.

I split a cab longways, like a hot dog. Not sure why anyone would split it hamburger style...
