Oops, beat me to it (again) Full Canvas.

I don't really know what to think. Or say. Oscar Peterson was one of my heroes, and I find myself crying on Christmas Eve.

In tribute, I offer this performance of Who Can I Turn To/Blues Encore (the latter actually being "The Theme). The trio gives a killer performance at first, but at about 4 minutes, Oscar comes back on stage and creates what is, IMO, the most jaww-drping jazz performance ever recorded. In light of what has transpired, it's impossible for me to watch this without crying. RIP.

This is one of my favorite performances of "Cakewalk." It's from Berlin in 1985; the legendary NHOP is on bass (RIP) and Martin Drew is on the drums. Oscar Peterson---the hardest-swinging cat of the 20th century.

The link to the OP performance of "The Theme" no longer works and Ithink everyone deserves to see this.

TIP: to embed Youtube clips, put only the encoded part of the Youtube URL, e.g. eBGIQ7ZuuiU between the tags. Pure jazz done by the master at his pinnacle. When he hits hard again after the subtle bridge (4 mins. in) I just lose it. This is jazz folks. EDIT: should also mention that the "Who Can I Turn To (When Nobody Needs Me)" cuts off of OScar's Exclusively for My Friends album leaves me slack-jawed. Just other-worldly stuff. I can see Horowitz, Cziffra, Cliburn et al. watching Peterson and going 'How does he do this?'
