Vat-dyed selvedge?

I've owned a couple pairs of Unbranded Brand denim, and I absolutely love the fit - they are the best jeans I've ever owned. But I like dark denim, and selvedge denim fades too quickly for me. In short, I like the fit of selvedge (how it conforms to my body), but not how temporary the dye is.

I noticed on the Unbranded website that they use rope-dying for their denim to actually increase the pace and severity of fading.

This got me wondering: are there any selvedge denim manufacturers that use the more common vat-dying method to reduce fading? Or is all denim focused on achieving fast and severe fades?

indigo is a fugitive dye it will fade regardless .

so far as avoiding indigo loss during washing you could try a dry cleaning process , but those guys can still ruin things so caveat emptor . otherwise turn inside out and hand wash with a mild detergent in cold water .

fwiw i prefer wet washing whenever possible . if you don't actively try to scour the indigo out of your rope dyed jeans i doubt fading will be an issue compared to vat dyed tbh .

Since you like Unbranded which is owned by Naked and Famous you could try their selvedge denim that is made not to fade. I forgot which models but they do make certain ones to fade more and some to fade less.
