What are your opinions on Pal Zileri suits?

Hi everyone!

I just joined the forum and I'm excited to have a place to chat about classic menswear.

I'm a young lawyer (23) living in Turkey. I mostly dress formal and I'm still preparing my wardrobe. For almost a month I've been looking for silk and silk-wool suits and you can't really find those in Turkey. So, I found some Pal Zileri %100 silk and silk-wool (25-75) suits but I don't know much about the brand and never used any of their products. I searched for it online but all I could find was an outdated thread on this forum.

What are your general opinions on Pal Zileri suits? Would it be too much for my age? How would you rank the quality of their fabric, especially the quality of the silk? And, would you say it's worth to pay 850 euros for a silk-wool (25-75) Cerimonia line suit or about 1100 for a %100 silk suit?

Thanks a lot!

I am no expert but first you need to understand they make menswear in at least three levels that I know of, or did. Gruppo for all, nothing special. Made in Italy good. Sartoriale, very good. I am sure someone here with more experience with the individual levels will chime in.

Previous threads on this subject (found through google search) show that most people are reasonably happy with quality of construction and materials, and cut, for the prices being charged.

I don't know that I would wear a 100% silk suit, generally, in the day-to-day. They can be fragile, and they aren't as cool/breathable as you might hope.

I think fit is more important than any brand label. You can purchase any label just as the one you mentioned but if they fit is poor then the brand label bears less significance.

The fit seemed perfect. I just want to know more about the quality of their fabrics.

I have seven wool suits already. I want to buy a single buttoned silk suit for special occasions and one or two silk-wool suits for daily use.

It might be the location and Google's algorithm but my Google searches did not yield any results. And the threads I found was mostly on second hand shopping.

I don’t have first-hand experience, but my understanding from prior reading is that mainline PZ is solid, mid-range Italian quality and a good bargain. PZ Sartorial is a step up from the main line and LAB Pal Zileri is a couple steps down.

If the fit and styling are right, go for it!

Hey, @TrackerSlatter
I am curious what you have decided to do. There is currently a good sale going on for Pal Zileri in Beymen if you didn't know that already. That being said, I don't have any prior experience with any of their clothing.

Hi,

The problem with shopping online from Beymen is that the info about the suits are useless, so is the pics they put.

I just checked the sale, the prices seem really good. But you can't tell the label of the suits from photos, you can't tell whether there is any handwork, same goes with buttons. They don't even mention whether the suit is fully canvassed or not. There is no photo of the inner label, so you don't know which material was used for lining. The list goes on.

I'm not an expert either. But it's a bit of a gamble. Though their return policies are ok, so if you don't like it you can always return it (if you bought it online). The prices on some suits are incredible, some are cheaper than low quality polyester suits. It might be worth to try. If you are in İstanbul maybe it's better to go try them in a store. I might go this weekend. Though, do you know when will the sale end?

Oh yeah, their product detailing is pretty terrible. Some items have “last day of sale” on the website but not all, I didn’t see any on the suits. The problem is most of the items with a decent price-off are literally the last piece they have left, so you might have to travel a little if you want to go to a store.

I only own suits from their Sartoriale line - but they are excellent and can easily hold their own with some of the best Italian suit makers. I’d rank Sartoriale almost equal with my Brioni suits and a notch below Kiton.

I can’t speak to the rest of their lines but I’ve heard mainline Pal Zileri is more comparable to Canali, so middle-of-the-range Italian.

I will say this - you can easily get beautiful PZ Sartoriale suits off eBay for well under 400 and even 300. They aren’t half as well known as Kiton etc. and are very, very good quality.

Can someone please explain what exactly PZ sartoriale is? Because on their website I do not see any info about sartoriale. Or it simply means their made to measure service?
Also PZ is having sale. Is their VICENZA LINE MADE OF SUPER 130'S suit worth $1500 ($2500 originally). Better value than Canali mainline on sale?

Jeepers, I have suits older than you! I’m 46.
Just saw the thread and it reminded me of the days when Harrold’s (was a specialist men’s retailer, in the day, now fashion emporium) sold Pal Zileri and it was one of the brands I’d buy for ’that Italian look’. Corneliani, the other.
Always preferred tailored suits, but fun to step out.
